Competition was fierce as 24 residents of Hargrave House embarked on a battle of style and domestic pride to see who would win the coveted Project FIND Apartment Beautiful contest.
Prizes were received not only for the most beautiful apartment, but also the most improved, the cleanest, the most colorful and the most organized. First place winners received $500; second place, $250; 3rd place $150.
Given one month to prepare their apartments for official viewing, the contestants swung into full action, demonstrating ingenuity and grit. A panel of three judges, Salvador Rodriguez from Hamilton House, Elizabeth Cunningham, Director Property Management Woodstock Hotel, and Wayne Burse, Assistant Director, Clinton Senior Center, reviewed before and after photographs and conducted on-site inspections of all short-listed entrants. Their final selections were announced at the awards event, held at the Hargrave Senior Center on May 25th.
According to Executive Director, David Gillcrist, “This contest celebrates the great indoors and community. We sought to learn about the interior design aesthetics of tenants, who have transformed their apartments into multi-dimensional homes and to share these forms of self-expression in a building-wide event. The contestants demonstrated great creativity and imagination, ranging from Spartan elegance to the baroque, impressing a tough panel of judges and their neighbors in the process.”
